Yes people I have returned to etsy! I opened my shop about 2 years ago but eventually gave up but i am willing to give it another shot :)

Since etsy is a bit big and I need to add more items to my store, I will make big announcements on other sites later on but for now, I thought it wouldn't hurt to make an announcement here :)

This month, the "BS"( Brabants strip magazine) #188 got released and it also included an article of me in it as well about my works and my artbook Dreamsound :) many thanks to Wallie Hakkens for this. below you can see the article. I also did my best to write down a translation of it so non dutch speakers can read about it as well :)

Marlon Teunissen has been drawing for as long as she can remember and is an artist with a main focus in character design, concept art, and illustration,

PlayBling has recently uploaded video's of their new crystal iphone designs. here is the video with my cristmas special design in it ^_^ it is so sparkly!

I also continued working on the short comic of course. it is finally starting to take shape. I need to smoothen and clean out the colouring and then i am going to add the balloons and text. and after that there will be final adjustments and detailling and it's done :)( it will still take some time to get it done though =_=; )

Creative Design Outlet

We sadly had to say our goodbyes last month to mytagart who quitted their company.

In the meantime I have been searching for a new tubbing company to get licensed with and eventually decided to settle for Creative Design Outlet.

Hi everyone!

Facts is over and it all went well :) I can say that it was a succes so I most likely will be there again next year!

also, I had done a few interviews there ( I was quite suprised! :D) and "Stampmedia" was one of the people who interviewed me. you can see the result in this video:

You can see me at 1.15 minutes ( Soooo embarrasing! I am quite camera shy :P )It is in dutch and basically there are people in this video who introduce themselves and tell them what they do at this convention. I also introduce myself and tell the people what it is I am doing at FACTS ( artsy stuff at the artist alley of course ;) )

I have now started to clean out the comic pages and am now in the " lineart" fase. I will keep this entire comic in pencil and then colour it on the computer. no inkting. I wanted to try it like this for quite some time. below you can see a part from the second page :)

Stripbeurs Breda (comiccon Breda)

Last weekend I went to the comiccon in Breda in the netherlands :) The location was nice and met some nice people again, both old and new.

Sadly the visitors were a bit tough however...DREAMTIME GOT SOLD OUT!! hurray!! \^_^/

At the con during some quiet moments I started drawing a sketch wich you can see below, and also started to work on the comic for the magazine P@per. The (very) rough version of the layout placement is now kinda done so now I can start sketching the actual drawings. I kept the images quite big and about 2-5 images per page because it will be printed on A5 format wich is not really big, so the drawings should still be clear on that size. It will also be 7 pages long :) You can see one of the pages below ( yes that is how I start all of my comics ^^;)

Well it is time to write into my blog again...

Not much has happened lately although I do find myself quite busy with designing stuff for companies I am licensed with. I just got licensed with a bowling ball company but I still need to make design for them. I will be able to start on that after this weekend because first there is the comicfair in Breda (Netherlands) I am quite stressed out about it...I hope everything will go well! 0_0;

Aside from that...I really do need to start looking for another extra job, preferably in the art industry. Eventhough I am still quite modest and insecure about my art sometimes..I do feel like I have build more confidence and experience as well to be able to apply for jobs in that field. Who knows..but in the meantime I continue with my freelance work as well of course :)

Several months ago i was asked to do a comic for a comicmagazine called "P@per" after several months I received the script from a writer called Patty Scholten. Because I was so busy with my artbook and all, I finally managed to get the rough designs of the characters done wich you can see below. The colours and parts of the design may change in the comic but at least this is a start. Next step is to create the rough sketch pages of the comic. The comic will be about 6 pages long and is called " Een drakerige jonkvrouw" in Dutch, wich can be roughly translated as: "A dragonish noble woman" <---although I am aware that this direct translation may sound weird ^^;;

expect more updates on this comic from now on :)

I am still busy with making new mershandise for the comic convention of the stripdagen breda in the netherlands.

Unfortunately things went not as smoothly as planned and i still do not have a lot of stuff....sigh ;_;

what i finally do have are some new bookmarks wich are the first in a new series of bookmarks with a "fantasy" theme.

the mermaid and the dragon are done :) maybe i can still get some other typical fantasy subjects done before the convention :)

mermaid bookmark

For weeks I've been trying to get stuff done for the comicfair in Breda
(Netherlands) in September but for some reason I have not been able to do much. Stuff always comes inbetween...sigh >_< I wanted to create new bookmarks that are different from the ones I did before. Not just the images but the sizes and overall design as well. When the bookmarks are done I will post the photo's of them here.

For now I am happy that I managed to finish tha first one in a new bookmark series with the theme: Fantasy.

Here is the mermaid :D I was really stressed out yesterday because I had her nearly finished but then my computer went crazy and I lost the file...forcing me to start all over again....but I managed to get her done anyways today! :D

Queenkat Stamps and co. review!

Hi everyone :D as some of you might know I got licensed at "Queenkat" this year :)

"Queenkat" is a company that produces fabric patches, stamps, iron transfers, several handmade products, and many more different things sor hobby purposes.

Last week I finally received several samples of their products that contain my artwork on them and I will review each of them in this post.

Stamps!

first off, I am going to start with the stamps. this is the product what made me interested to license with them the most because I always thought that it would be neat to see my artwork as stamps. I did not try the stamp out myself but I found another blog of someone who also purchased a stamp from "Queenkat" with my artwork on them and she made a card of it. I must say that the image from the stamp on her card looks exacly like the original drawing and from what I can tell from the stamp I received myself, the details are very good and it is all there. They did not simplify the stamp from my drawing so I am content with that. The only downside is that there is no small handle or so on top to hold your stamp when you use it so there is a chance your hands get dirty a bit.

Fabric patches!

This was the second product I was licensed for at "Queenkat". You can use fabric patches for quilts, sowing them on clothing or bags or anything else creative you may think of. The sample I received is a small size fabric patch but they also sell them in bigger sizes.
I have never seen any drawing of mine on fabric before so I was really wondering how it would look like. Just as the stamps, I am happy to say that the drawing came out well and the colours look vibrant and no detail got lost.

Iron on transfers!

This is a fairly new product my art got licensed for. Like the other products the picture looks just as it should. I cannot say too much about the result when you transfer it on a tshirt because I have not used it but it is nice to mention that these iron on transfers also come with an ( English) instruction manual.

So in general I can honestly say that their products are of good quality and the images look just as they are supposed to be.

In the future there will be new stamps, fabric patches and more, with new images of mine and most likely there will also be new poducts available on their website wich also contain artwork from me.

Conceptart

This week I saw one of my drawings/characters turned into 3D for the first time in my life :D I thought that it looked so awesome!

I am helping out at forever interactive, creating conceptart and other artworks fro a game of theirs called: "Visions of Zosimos" One of the drawings I created was of a character called a "Thundra Warrior" When they told me that the character would be turned into 3D I was suprised but when I saw the result I am quite happy on what they made of it :D you can see it here below:

Really makes me wish I could do 3D as well...sigh...

I also changed my gallery a bit. I removed the "Fanart" section and replaced it with "Conceptart" Here you can see the artworks that I made for games.

Atsusacon

Last weekend I attended Atsusacon in Antwerp (Belgium)Eventhough it was a small convention and it was the first time that it was being organised, there were more visitors than I had expected. This was probably because of the fact that this was also the very first anime/manga con being held in Vlamingen ( The Dutch speaking part of Belgium)

I did pretty well and aside from the fact that there was some sort of national holiday going on in Belgium wich made it a bit hard to get a train back, I had a good time :)

I should mention that I managed to get into Imagine FX issue 71 ( we love manga) manga special magazine :) I had been waiting for a year to get in since I submitted something and I finally did :) Here's hoping I will get featured into more magazines! :D

And I also did a small speedpainting yesterday. It feels nice to be able to draw a simple female elf face again after doing so many complicated drawings.

Today was a sunny day but I did not get as much done as I hoped I would.

Oh my...I just realised I did not update my blog very much last month! I am so sorry about this. I have been very busy with all sorts of stuff last month so it was pretty hectic...and actually still is kinda. I still need to get about 50% of my artbook done and hope to get all drawings finished in June but that means I will need to work REALLY hard these next two months.....sigh....but it will be worth it!

Like the title says i have not updated here for a while ^^; I just wanted to show you the stuff i have been working on.

First off i would like to start with another teaser for my upcoming artbook :) i finally got 50% of all drawing done....now the other half...@_@;;

Next is the end result of an illustration i did for an upcoming novel called " the deamon of cormagan" I am now working on the cover illustration but taht one will take a while to get finished.

And then finally another piece of artwork I did for Forever Interactive :) I don't often draw old men so I am quite content with how this one came out.

Well March is almost over...god what does time fly by so fast ne?

In the meantime I have joined an art agency called " BOOMART" it is interesting to work with an agent :)

I am also making some process illustrating for a novel for a client. Below you can see a sketch of an illustration I am working on for it now :)

I survived the stripdagen (comiccon) in Gorinchem, The Netherlands :) I was quite content with how it all went :) but I was pretty tired afterwardss hahaha. I needed a break from drawing the day after.

I am going to make illustrations for a novel! yay! I am quite excited for this because I always wanted to do this :) I won't say too much about it for now.

I also FINALLY managed to finish another artbook drawing. It sure took me long enough but I am behind on my artbook schedule >_< It also doesn't help much that February is such a short month :/

I am also preparing to do a livestream pretty soon so keep your eyes out for any announcements on that

As some of you might have noticed some parts of my website are now also available in Dutch. Although most companies and in general, most dutch people can handle english pretty well...there are still a lot of people who do not know like foreigners who live in my country and are learning dutch but cannot speak english.

Aside from that..got another artbook drawing kinda finished and I think I am finally starting to get the hang of it and being able to work faster on my drawings.....although the more difficult and time consuming ones are still to come...urg.. >_<;

Last week I finally received the artbook " Nostalgia" from " tsukiji nao" in the mail :)

it is a very pretty book and it is nice to see that there are other steampunk fans out there who create steampunk art :) I love the vintage feel of his artworks.

Unfortunately this book is now pretty hard to come by but if you do happen to stumble upon it, it is really worth it's money :)

Well it took me way too long but i finished drawing #6 for my artbook as well..sigh...

I also have been accepted to forever entertainment ( well at this moment i still need to sign a contract with them but aside from that i'm practically in :) ) I am quite excited about it and look forward working with them ^_^

Secondly, I have decided to join an contest at pixiv were you can get one of your artworks in their annual pixiv girl's collection artbooks. I own two of their artbooks and I like them so I tought it would be cool to have a go at it and try getting a drawing of mine in the book as well. The deadline however is this weekend and I just started today. Combined with a commission and my own artbook project, it is pretty hectic >_< but this is what I have so far:

This week I have received a few copies of the third volume of the punk magazine " Jagged visions" in my mail. This volume is about the punk scene in japan so they decided to hire me a while ago to do the cover of this one :) I am quite pleased with the outcome.

The last month

Time flies by so fast...jeez...It is December already...

I have been looking into some info on events and cons for next year. I want to participate in more of those coming year so I made a list of events in wich i am interested to join. When I will definately attend one of these events I will announce it on the main page on my site.

One of these events is " made in asia" which is in march 2011. It is a big event about manga and anime in which my stuff would fit well, however it is being held in brussels wich is a bit far for me....not to mention the fact that it will be costly and most importand: I currently have no one to go with me ( this is especially bad for when i need to go to the bathroom >_<;;) I would love to join but at the moment I am not too sure...sigh.

Man I am tired so I am going to lay down for a bit and then continue working on my artbook. I nearly got half of my main drawings done! ( uncoloured though...;_;)

I am currently working on my second artbook. Wich is one of the reasons I might not seem so productive with my art because I don't post much but believe me....I am VERY productive :P I try to finish at least 4 drawings for my artbook every week. up to now I have 12 drawings and I hope that by the end of this week it will be 16.

When I started I did have a rithym and managed to easily get a drawing out every day...well the linearts anyways ( colouring will happen after I got all drawings done) but now that I need to do more overtime work at my parttime job it is getting hard. I got inspiration enough but my body is getting tired.....I can't stand people who say that drawing is so simple and that I should not be asking so much money for it because I can get a sketch done in 10 minutes....damn you cause it may look fast and simple but it is very mentaly intensive...

I also try to get a christmas drawing done before December. I got the concept ready but I need to work the sketch out.

I also reacted to a message on a forum i am a member off were someone was looking for an artist who could draw marvel style for an assignment. Now marvel is not my speciality but I think I can pull this off.....I just need to create more marvel style drawings now to show them though...if they are interested in me that is...

Anyways my jaw hurts and I am very tired so I better lay down for a bit I guess. But here are a few rough teaser sketches from 2 drawings that are for my artbook that I will finish this week :).... I hope @_@;

Tomorrow I hope I can finally start doing a new Watch me draw video. it has been quite a while since i made one but I am pleased that nearly everyday, people keep subscribing to my youtube channel :)

I wanted to do a bishounen drawing but I had a hard time figuring out poses and stuff and ended up doing a fanart of " Asato" he is a character from a visual novel called " lamento: beyond the void" I really hope I can someday see the full visual novel somewere because it intrigues me and I like the artwork and characters alot ( better yet, I happen to even have mershandise of it witheout ever watching/playing the thing @_@ )

anyways, Asato is my favourite character from that VN and Lamento has a beautifull soundtrack so I am looking forward to put some music of it in my video as well :)

I am curious to see how my keychains will do at the con. I spend quite a lot of effort into making them but I like how they turned out :)

My jetlag is almost gone so that means that my preparations for F.A.C.T.S have started. I need to remake some mershandise and make new images so I can show and sell new stuff.

Yes I am back from my holiday to Japan. I wished I could go back again soon but alas...The trip was real fun and I bought a lot of artbooks while I was there so I got a lot of new inspiration :D Below you can see a preview of a drawing I am working on now....still very far from finished but yeah :D

as part of my conceptart training...i did some environment practises...still have a long way to go ^^; but for now I try to trainmyself into LIKING to draw backgrounds ( most people don't like this and I unfortunately am one of them) I did feel a bit of joy when drawing these so hopefully if i continue this I can feel just as comfortable drawing backgrounds as I do with characters :)

Lately I decided to start practising more how to do environmental and conceptartwork. I am a decent character illustrator but if I want to be a full time concept artist I better start working hard on the environments, monsters and other things as well >_<

Still got a long way to go though...but at least here is my first practise of an environment XD

Haarlem, the aftermath

Last saturday, the comiccon in Haarlem was nice ^_^ It was fun to meet poeple again and the weather was nice and sunny. Although not everything went as planned, the visitors were generally very positive about my books and drawins wich made me very happy ^_^ I was pretty exhausted the days afterwards...and I still am.

Still...I need to get my energy up soon again because I plan to enter the fantasy earth zero character design contest. I don't think I will win but I love to do chara designing so I will join in just for the fun of it. :D

P.S.:I miss the sun again..were is the sun? why is there so much bad weather? it's June already dammit!

Yesterday my final bookmark image out of 4 has been finished :) The princess of aces. She was the hardest one to do I think because I had to start all over at one point, but I am glad I did start anew because the end result is better then I could have achieved with the old version.

Sorry for the lack of updates here. This month I had my birthday and I also received a grand prize hat I won wit a videogam photocontest wich is a PS3+ FF13+ FF13 mershandise figurine. It's awesome. However I have mainly been playing metal gear solid 4 becaue I wanted to play that game for SO long and I like MGS. FF13 is nice as well although very lineair...have not played much of i yet...

But enough talk...time to talk about some art ne? I have finally finished all my magnets! They will be available in my webshop later this week, and I just have 1 out of 4 images left for my bookmark set as well :D They will most likely be ready this week as well! yay!

I am now also working on a bookmark set with the "princess of cards" theme :) I already got hearts finishedand am now working on diamond. I will put them all on this website when they are finished :)

The pre-orders for my artbook "dreamtime" have been closed. Thanks to all who have ordered a copy of he book :) I have already ordered the books at the printer so I hope they will get here in 2-3 weeks. ^_^ After that, the books will also be available in my shop, but for the regular price of 18 euro's. (about 22 dollars)

Today I am goin to start making book marks again :) Looking forward to making them ^_^ It has bee a while but I always had fun making them in the past as well.

my artbook is finished! finally! i send off my book to the printer and am now waiting for the proofing to check if everything is 100% okay :D i am quite excited ^_^

hmmm today i made a quick speedpaint...kinda inspired by old fashioned detective novels and the like...

i also started on a short coloured comic that will be in my artbook. it will b about 10 pages long but let me tell ya, for someone like me who hs never done a COLOURED comic before, it's pretty long @_@....better yet, i haven't drawn a comc for a few years...so it is a bit scary...i hope to get the first page done tomorrow though.

my first post here in 2010 :) still working hard at my artbook and i have got nearly50% of it done...wich means i finished all of the drawings for the artbook and the tutorials. now i just need to get the comic/illustrated story done, edit it all together as pdf files and send it off to the printer..sigh...

anyways my drawing skills have greatly improved ^_^ i am also working on a new drawing for my website's splashpage from wich i plan to show you the sketches this weekend ^_^ stay tuned!
